Class Rules
Please read this: Rules are not made to restrict creativity but to make it possible for all students to enjoy their pottery session.
- Always be positive and enthusiastic about your own creations. Take pleasure in the process to explore your own creativity. Come and play with clay and enjoy! - Have FUN!
- You are not the most important person in the studio, but not less important than the second most important person in the studio. In this studio we take pleasure in helping each other and therefore: Please clean your working area and studio tools when your done.
- When painting / glazing please use a newspaper underneath so that you do not contaminate the surface with colour.
- Please take caution to cut on the surface and not to cut the canvas. (You are welcome to bring your own cut canvas along.
- Class clay and products stay in the class until finished. If you want to work with it at home, firing and use of class glazes will not be included.
- Home clay does not include the use of glazes and under-glazes in the class.
- Please wash brushes after use and neaten their points.
- All work must have clean feet before it can go in the kiln. (Ask if you are not sure)
- Class clay include 2 Firings / bisque glaze. Extra firings welcome, but at extra cost.
- Please provide a “cookie” support if your special firing request or your firing of glaze may result in running glaze to protect the shelf.
- If your pottery gets stuck on the shelf during firing, you will need to pay - for a new shelf or if it is possible to save - for the cleaning and kiln wash. [Keep your bottoms clean]
- If your pottery explodes, every student that have damage will receive a good quality chocolate from you for their misfortune and as consolation from you, because they spend a lot of time and love on their products too.
- If you realize you cannot make a class you have to let us know at least 24 hours before the time or else loose the opportunity for a possible catch-up class.
- Work-in / Catch-up classes are only for paid-up and still enrolled students that have notified absence at least 24 hours prior to missing the class. Paid-up student do not have gaps in their enrollment over the last year. These alternate / catch-up classes can be worked in with prior arrangement at other class times or on catch-up class dates (some Saturdays).
- Class fees per session for monthly prepaid classes are {Inquire current rate from us}. Single classes for non-enrolled students are {Inquire current rate from us} per class if you do not want to prepay per month .
- Absent students for more than two (2) months forfeit their products and its storage in the studio. All such items will be discarded and recycled and possibly will have to re-register again.
- When you use colored clay (other than the general L-Mix), you are expected to take extra care in cleaning up your work area (not “contaminate” the studio with dark clay) and work on separate bats and your own canvas on your work area.
- If you want to play with clay at home, the clay must be the same clay than what is used in the studio (fire temperature). The students have to prove that they are experienced enough for there work to be fired together with class work not to cause problems. Firing will be charged at the rate indicated on the wall or as % of the kiln space used.
- Firing and electricity is some of the studio’s big expenses, therefore be aware that if your work occupies the whole kiln, you may be liable for extra costs.
- The registration fee {Inquire current rate from us} includes 10kg of class clay of {Inquire current rate from us}. Subsequent re-registration (due to 2 or more months of absence) may be charged at {Inquire current rate from us} without class clay.
