Pottery Classes


Note that the formal class times for students and scholars are:

Tuesday  evenings: 6:00-8:30 pm
Thursday mornings: 9:00-11:30 am
Thursday evenings: 6:00-8:30 pm

Class rates:

    Monthly rate is payable in advance for 4 classes. (Inquire from us for the current tariffs)

      If you only want to attend a single class at a time, the tariff is  about 20 % more per class.

      Unfortunately there are no refunds of or credits for missed classes. Classes may be worked in at other class times in the same month or on open studio days on a given Saturday every second month. After this the missed classes will unfortunately be lost.

        Clay (Separate) and firing:

          Class clay packed in 10kg bags, are bought separately. The use of this includes transparent dip glaze and firing. Class clay are for class projects only in class times. Any work not made in the studio will be fired at an extra tariff.

            If work are fired more than 2 times, an extra firing fee will be applicable.


            Dependent on the size of the projects, the clay should last, on average, longer than 1 month.


            More than 10kg in 1 month can be fired at and additional cost.

              The studio have a specific firing temperature that works well for the clay and glazes we use. We do not fire clay from other sources.


              Class rules:

              1) Come and play with clay and enjoy! - Have FUN!
              2) When we have finished, we tidy up before leaving
              3) Mark your own tools and store in your own holder/s.

              Students must bring and supply their own tools as follows:

              1) Apron
              2) Towel
              3) Pencil
              4) Notebook
              5) Hand cream
              6) Knife
              7) Sponge
              8) Black plastic bag
              9) Old newspaper
              10) Holder / box for tools
              11) Any other pottery tools you may have
              12) Gumption and creativity

              Classes:

              The first four classes must be done to understand and appreciate the basic processes of clay work. There after other projects may be tackled.

              Class 1:

              Learn to bray clay
              Make a pinch bowl
              Devise creative applications
              Make and enjoy

              Class 2:

              Finnish pinch bowl and decorate
              ALWAYS remember to sign your work piece!
              Start with coil pot

              Class 3:

              Finnish coil pot project and decorate
              Plan slab project

              Class 4 :

              Start slab box project.

              Class 5:

              Complete project.

              Class 6 :

              Press mould and tiles.

              Class 7:

              Coffeecup – any technique.

              Class 8:

              Forms

              Under glazes
